The Elements of Stockholm

Wow. It has been a whirlwind last four or so days. Sweden is officially one of the most amazing countries in the world. I have so much to write about from our time there, but it has been a crazy last few days, so I will need to get all caught up through a few different posts 🙂

Anyway, on to Stockholm.

Dennis and I spent a day and a half galavanting around Stockholm. It is one of the coolest cities that we have been to on our trip [I hesitate to say that “aloud” though, as we have quickly found out that there is a rivalry between Stockholm and Gothenburg, where my family lives!].

One interesting [and very humbling] aspect of being on the road this summer has been learning little tidbits of different cultures and languages.

Each place we have visited has unique traditions around food, dress, lifestyle, and so on. We have found that each place has really different traditions around coffee.  For example, in Italy, it was common to order an espresso and stand at the coffee bar while you shoot it back really quick and go on your merry way. That is definitely not the case here in Sweden.

Howth

Dennis and I ventured to a small fishing village in on the eastern coast of Ireland called Howth [pronounced like Ho-Ho-Ho-wth…if that makes sense 🙂 ]

We sat in the front row of a double decker bus on the way there. It was cool to see a bit of countryside as we rode—my favorite part being the massive fields spotted with little sheep.

Guinness Academy

Dennis and I ventured to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin [the originator of all things Guinness].

To those of you who know us, going there is quite an oxymoron.

Dennis and I are not beer people–at all…but we had enough people recommend it to us that we thought we should give it a whirl.
